وهي بالإنجليزية:
Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
وتعني : تكبير الضوء بواسطة انبعاث است*ثاثي للإشعاع.


ويتم توليد الليزر بواسطة جهاز يولد أشعة كهرومغناطيسية من خلال ت*فيز الفوتونات الضوئية ، وتتميز فوتونات الليزر بالتماسك مكانياً وزمانياً من دون تشتت وبشكل لا يمكن توليده بأجهزة أخرى
