هو :غياث الدين أبو الفتو* عمر ابن أبراهيم الخيام
ولد في مدينة نيسابور في إيران

يعتبر عمر الخيام أعظم عالم رياضيات في الشرق الأوسط في زمانه . وقد أصـب* معروفآ بذالك في العالم العربي , كما اعاد تنظيم التقويم الإسلامي .
أشهر مايذكر به قصائده ( الرباعيات ) الشهيرة وقد ترجمها إدوارد فيتزجيرالد ليمتع بها الملاين من الناس .
توفي عمر الخيام 1123 م . 516 هجري
